Those individuals are the customers who had their personal information leaked. The Elaboration Likelihood Model is a dual-process social science theory that relates to the theory. The reasoning behind the relation is that the website clearly made sure they incorporated all the information necessary to answer many of the questions soon to come from the customers. This breach letter was written in a way related to this theory in the way to influence the customers to change their attitude and not be upset because of the confidence shown in the letter that the issue will be taken care of. The company was trying to gain the trust back as well as lower the worrisome, panic, and potential damage to the company/website due to the incident.
