Assignment Take Away #4:

Me and my Boyfriend

This week we learned about the different types of love one can endure. We were assigned to take a Styles of Love questionnaire. While taking this questionnaire I found that I had higher levels of Eros love. Eros is love that engulfs romance, passion, and physical intimacy. If I had to rank myself I would have put Agape love as the highest-scoring love style. Agape is love that is unconditional and selfless. I would say that this is the most important/ prominent love in my opinion. I pride myself on being a selfless individual, everything I do is to help the next person, that is one of the main reason I am joining the helping profession, becoming a counselor.

When reflecting my result I noticed that in my current relationship the highest-ranking styles ( Eros, Agape, and Mania) were pretty accurate, and it is what makes our relationship stable. We both show these styles and embrace the different levels we give the other. I am the clingy girlfriend that loves to simply run errands with you, while my boyfriend is really laid back but enjoys company from time to time, we both would go to the ends of the earth for one another and always make sure that we are satisfied with life in general. This assignment was extremely interesting and I’m glad I was able to learn a little more about myself

Assignment Take Away #3:

In this assignment, we were required to watch a clip of Michael Richards tirade during one of his standup comedy shows. We were supposed to investigate the situation and discuss whether we believe his racial slurs during the rant were means of extreme anger, or if he had a deep-rooted hatred for people of color.

Long story short, I believe this man used racial slurs to inflict pain. However, I believe that for someone to use these words especially an older caucasian man using these words there has to be some weight of their personal beliefs and biases attached to the word. It is in my opinion that this man purposefully used the only word HE knew that would dig so deep, and ultimately kill a man inside. We live in a day where it is known that certain terms are no longer socially acceptable. Yet this man with discernment chose his words wisely and continued to show he knew the effects. After repeatedly using the “N-word” he then states, “That’s what happens when you interrupt a white man, don’t you know?” Once this statement was said all theories of him being upset goes out the window and showed his true colors.

Assignment Take Away #2:

Social Media Catfish

In ths assignment we were require to selected several images and exlain why they may or may not represent us. I chose to use pictures off of my social media because that is how I represent myself to everyone in the world. I honestly believe that pictures show whatever you ant it to, and can be manipulated by captions, filters, photoshop, etc. I do not believe that from images alone you can really grasp an inividuals personality.
