How has cyber technology created opportunities for workplace deviance?

Cyber technology has become a great tool/asset for companies and workplaces. They have made it so that tasks that use to take hours can now be done in a few simple clicks. It has even provided companies with multiple platforms to promote their products and look for help. But even though technology has positively impacted companies it has also created opportunities for workplace deviance. Most people are more willing to commit acts that are considered deviant when they learn that they can do it behind a computer screen. So this workplace technology provided individuals with the needed instruments to commit these acts. Some common deviant workplace acts can be cyberbullying and searching the internet rather than doing the work they are expected to do. Cyberbullying is when an individual uses the internet to bully another individual, group, or entity. Employees have used workplace technology to engage in cyberbullying of either other employees or of the company as a whole. This can cause companies to lose employees and business if customers read negative comments done by employees. Another example of workplace deviance is when an employee is doing something like going through the internet rather than doing the expected job. This is a very common activity and while it’s not the most harmful act it can cause a company to lose business. These deviant acts can get as extreme as employees engaging in acts such as hacking the company for which they work. While this is not a common act, it is still a possibility created by the cyber technology that has been introduced into most companies/businesses. So while cyber technology has proved companies with a great new tool it has also created a chance for workplace deviance which can range from cyberbullying to hacking.
