Computer safety is very important to practice and there are steps or tools out there that can help you tell if your computer is safe, at risk, or already attacked/compromised. The first step/ tool that is available to everyone is to install a trustworthy antivirus software. Antivirus software protects your device from things such as viruses and they normally scan your device and look for anything that could be malicious. So when someone gets a new device one of the first things they should do is download antivirus software that they have researched and trust.  Another good step to take is to make sure that the system on your computer is always up to date. Most of the time when you go through the notes that come up after the updates normally there is a section that talks about bugs that are fixed. That’s just a little step that helps a lot. Being informed and cautious goes a long way too. Taking the time to look into key things to avoid and what to do if a situation comes up helps keep your computer safe. For example, if an email comes up that seems to be weird or has something wrong with it. Having the knowledge to not open it and to delete it helps a computer a lot. Another example is if you come across something that is downloadable and you don’t know the source or know if it’s reliable don’t download it. Using things such as strong passwords is another way to make sure that your computer stays safe. There are multiple ways to tell if your computer is safe a couple examples are antivirus systems and making sure the software is updated.
