The United States is considered to be one of the best nations in the world in the field of cybersecurity. This is due to the infrastructure that has been created in the nation. Multiple studies have been done and in almost all of them, the United States ranks in the top 5. These studies range from the amount of money spent to the Global Security Index. But with this being stated the United States is still one of the most attacked nations in the world. This is due to a large number of the country’s businesses and companies using the internet for numerous reasons such as storing individual information and financial information. So even though the nation is prepared for attacks they still receive some of the highest attack attempts in the world. In the United States as of December 2022, 49% of internet users experienced at least one cybercrime. Which is 10% higher than the global average which was at 39%. When looking at the given statistics countries such as Japan were under the statistic by 18% and under America by 28%. But that statistic is believed to be about to rise over the next few years. It is believed that Japan is currently considered to be behind other countries as far as cybersecurity. In a four-year period, the number of cyber-attacks in Japan roughly quadrupled. Hackers started to learn that Japan’s security systems were not as up-to-date or as strong as other countries so it became a target for hackers. So in response, the government has started to create programs to help out. In summary, although America is considered to have a more complete cyber security infrastructure both nations still have to make sure they are ready for the attacks that they both face.
