Module 6 journal

An interesting podcast I listened to, DarkNet Diaries, talked about how he knew he was at a fake website but only caught it because his username did not auto-populate. This of course is an indicator that the site is not federated nor the real site. However, one of the biggest ways to know if a website is fake or not is by its domain name. For example, www.google vs www.g00gle.com. If you frequent popular or mainstream sites, you could also check for the padlock symbol and investigate the sites details. A missing padlock indicates an unsecure connection. There is also the tried-and-true adage where if it’s too good to be true, then it’s not. Finally, poor spelling and grammar is a sure-fire way to know if something is false.
