About a month ago, I was gifted a massive slab of white oak. It was warped, covered in holes, and had large cracks; it could have easily become firewood. However, what wasn’t readily seen was the potential it could become. I could have made a hundred pen blanks or multiple cutting boards but I opted to create this beautiful desk with the help of my dad. We spent long hours and lots elbow grease on the oak, one of the hardest woods in North America. The outcome is a massive 67×30 inch desk and yes it does move up and down.
The work we put into something will surprise us when we dedicate the time and effort.
