Internship – 150 Hours

So, the last 50 hours of my internship were definitely hard to get in. We had a back order on fans for a chassis that we did not know needed the fans until we started working on the order and realized that the hard drives were going to overheat if we did not have those fans. That meant I didn’t have work for about two weeks, and that was stressful as the time to get my hours in was slowly winding down, and I asked to even just do little things around the office like rack and unrack servers. They did let me do the whole production cycle on my own one of these days, and I really enjoyed that as I got to be part of the start-to-ship out process, which I have not been able to do fully yet. Most of the time, you bounce around parts of the process but never step by step until it is complete. I also learned how to start doing quality assurance testing on the servers. Start with checking your grade on each server and making sure off for at least one to two hard drives what hard drive is for backup space just in case that server needs it. They also have a set of hard drives for all the CPU storage that might be needed to make sure that the server runs properly. We also checked the physical chassis on the server sure it’s up to standard with what our company wants to give out to other companies. Theres a whole checklist for QA testing that they go through, but I never got hands on experience I just watched one of the full time guys go through each step and I got somewhat of a understand with what they do. Overall, these last 50 hours were just building on what I already know and starting to introduce some more complex areas of the job to me for me to hopefully pick up skills in the future
