REFLECTIVE LETTER

Out of all of the courses I took this semester I can definitely say that MET 350 was one of my favorites. It was a pretty challenging course but the skills I gained were well worth it. This class not only taught me Thermal applications but time management, technical writing and leadership skills as well. I was a little worried when I first added this class, but it turned out to be one of my best subjects. I can now say that I am proficient with thermal applications and if a problem is placed in front of me, I would have no trouble finding the states. The majority of what I learned this semester was demonstrated best in my exams. I feel my most successful area in this class was with gas turbine engines and my most improved would be the Rankine cycles with superheating, re-heating and regeneration to steam power plants. I have no doubt that in my future engineering career this course’s content will come in handy. Whether I’m working somewhere with HVAC systems or somewhere like Rolls Royce working with jet propulsion engines. I believe as a mechanical engineer everything I learned this semester is imperative to my future professional career. If I were to start this class again I would give myself a few important tips to ensure a successful semester. My tips would be to manage my time wisely, attend every class and ask questions, do more than the required amount of homework, and to do all of the extra credit I can. In conclusion this was a great class and a great learning experience, and I will take everything that I’ve learned and apply it to my future career endeavors.
