ODU Events and Involvement:

Tour for Health Science Majors: Everyone received T-shirts corresponding to their majors at orientation and wore them to the Health science building for a tour of all the different majors in that field

College 101 How-To’s: This event was hosted in Rogers Main and Greshem. There were different stations that showed the students ways to stay safe on campus, submit a work order, cook, get involved, etc.

90’s Night: This event was held at Kaufman mall during move-in week to help students interact and get involved. There was a DJ, snacks, contest, music, etc.

Academic Resources:

Study Night at the Library: I studied with Mikalia and Jasmine in preparation for my first Chemistry exam.

Office Hours in The Chemistry Building: I went to Professor Mccoy’s office hours for help on a post lab.

E-Portfolio Workshop: I joined a zoom meeting with members of the learning community to set up an e-portfolio for out Health Professions class

Learning Community Activities:

First Learning Community Event: All LC member gathered in Owens to hear from guest speakers, get study tips, learn about the student nursing club, etc.

Zoom Meeting: We heard from guest speaker, Dr. Jamela Martin about the Social Determinants of Health

The Zip Code Effect: Dr. Janice Hawkins talked about factors that impact an individuals life span, such as where they live

Film Night: The LC students joined professor Lopez in Owens to watch a movie called The Doctor. This movie was about a doctor who found out he had cancer and got a feel of what it was like to be a patient.
