So when taking the social media disorder scale test, I only found myself scoring a 1/9, mainly trying to escape from some of my emotions was a question I answered yes. Sometimes when I am feeling lonely I use social media to distract me from my loneliness but typically this is rare and only happens on occasion. Social media helps me take my mind off negative thoughts for a limited time but ultimately only is temporary solution to cover up my emotions.
The items on the list are quite accurate, pertaining to individuals who use social media often and constantly are on social media. Preoccupation is a good example of this, many people addicted to social media have a hard time finding themselves thinking about other topics other then social media. Social media has an addicting scroll feature, this is scrolling for more content main platforms that really euphuized this was TikTok. Another list on the item that was apart of the questioner was “Regularly neglected other activates because you wanted to use social media”. This was another question I had trouble with, Displacement is often associated with the question when answered yes. At times I would feel displaced where I would put off doing homework to scroll on social media and keeping my self focused would be hard at times.
I believe the diffrent patterns associated with effects across the world can be influenced by a variety of factors, including cultural, socioeconomic, and individual differences. Here are some reasons why such variations might occur. Cultural attitudes towards technology play a significate role, communication, and social interaction play a significant role. In some cultures, social media may be more accepted and integrated into daily life, leading to higher usage rates. Cultures where face-to-face communication is highly valued, social media use might be lower or perceived differently. Government regulations and policies regarding internet access and social media platforms can vary between countries, affecting usage patterns. understanding these factors can help explain why different patterns of social media use are observed across the world.
