About Me

Hey there, I’m Daniel Cobb, and I’m gearing up to start my freshman year in the fall of 2023. Currently, I’m employed at Planet Fitness, where I serve as a member service representative. This role involves assisting with account management and ensuring a smooth experience for our members.

Looking ahead, I’m enthusiastic about pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity. My interest in this field has already led me to gain some hands-on experience. I’ve had the opportunity to work with physical networks during my time in college, engaging in tasks such as configuring networks and setting up switches using packet tracers. Additionally, I’ve demonstrated proficiency in setting up operating systems like Linux and Windows from scratch on freshly installed computers. My experience extends to cord configuration, labeling, and testing, which are vital skills in any networking environment.

In my spare time, I’ve delved into coding projects, primarily using PowerShell and dabbling in Python. These personal projects have allowed me to develop practical skills that I believe will complement my academic pursuits in cybersecurity.

I see my current job as an invaluable opportunity to further enhance my skills and knowledge. By gaining hands-on experience and staying ahead of the curve, I aim to be well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in my academic and professional journey.

Experience

Customer Lead / Cashier

Initially, I was hired as a cashier at Food Lion, where my primary role was to assist customers with checking out and provide a friendly interaction at the conclusion of their shopping experience. Later, I was promoted to Customer Lead, where my responsibilities expanded. While still assisting cashiers during peak times, I also supported managers with various tasks, including lottery management, providing customer guidance within the store, and assisting with labeling items in the front end. The most significant takeaway from this experience was honing my verbal communication skills and mastering the art of customer service. I believe effective teamwork and communication are crucial in roles within IT or Cybersecurity.

I assist customers with managing their accounts, addressing any issues that may arise, and providing check-in monitoring. If a member encounters billing discrepancies or requires assistance with payment tracking or cancellation, I am equipped to meet their needs. Our practice involves meticulous notation on accounts, and documenting any pertinent events to ensure account organization. This allows for comprehensive understanding and contextualization of conversations, enabling seamless reference in the future. My key takeaways from this role are a heightened sense of organization and an enhanced commitment to customer service. Maintaining well-organized notes and documenting actions taken facilitate clarity and coherence, benefiting both customers and colleagues alike.
