As a young man, I was always enthralled by the world of technology and what it could offer. I did not come from a tech savvy family, so it was up to me to understand the necessary components and configurations of anything relating to the internet in the house if I wanted the best out of it. It did not occurred to me that I could make something like that a career. My early years of schooling was aligned more towards biology and mathematics. Other than my close friends, no one around me offered the idea of getting into a more technological related field when I was younger. I ended up trying my hand at Pharmacy because of my Uncle who is a biochemical engineer. I quickly realize that it did not align with my day-to-day passions once I began working under a pharmaceutical corporation.
The internet had been a second home to me; a way to keep in touch with the friends I moved away from and an abundant resource of knowledge to answer my thoughts. I loved pushing devices to their full potential. It then occurred to me just how much my life revolved around devices of the internet and the possibility of someone like me, with a passion for the internet, to cause wide scale harm to others who also rely on the upkeep of the internet.
Unlike my expectations of going into Pharmacy, I do not improve at the craft for the prestige or excess financial benefit; but because I can understand just how fast technology is advancing and I know too many people who are not passionate enough to care to practice cyber security that it puts them at risk of people like me who are willing to dive deeper and learn the potential of the devices of the internet.
I hope to find a workplace in this field that is just as passionate and push me to improve at keeping myself and the users of the internet safe.
