When I study, I don&#8217;t like to just read. I like to be moving my hands and solving something, so I have a hard time focusing on just reading material. I need to come up with a way that makes studying history more engaging for me because it is not my favorite class in general.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>What changes have you made (i.e. amount of time, location, campus resources, study strategies, etc\u2026)?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>I have started to study in the library and my dorm room. However, I don&#8217;t think I have been equally dispersing my time, so I need to make sure each class gets enough study time, especially when I know I need it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Transition to College<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>What expectations did you have coming to college?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>When coming to college, I expected that I would need to manage my own time and classes would be more challenging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Have those expectations come to fruition, or not?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>My expectations have come to reality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How?<br>I have been responsible for getting things done for my classes on time, and these classes have not been easy as they have required lots of studying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>In what way is your college experience different from what you expected?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>I did not expect to have so much freedom. For example, I make my own class schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>What has surprised you about your experiences so far this semester?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>I am surprised by the fact that I was able to make friends because I came in very nervous and shy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>If you live on campus: What has been your toughest challenge with moving away to college? Easiest challenge to overcome?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>I live on campus, so the toughest challenge has been not being able to see my family, pets, and even friends. The easiest challenge I have overcome was getting used to a new schedule and environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>OR If you commute to class: What is the toughest challenge with commuting to campus? Easiest challenge to overcome? N\/A<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Major<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Name something you have learned about your intended major that you did not know at the beginning of the semester.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>I learned that in the second year of the dental hygiene program they get to use their skills on the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Have your feelings changed about your intended major? List some thoughts you are having.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>I still want to pursue my intended major. Although my perspective has changed because I now realize how competitive it is going to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Is there another subject (major or minor) that you are interested in learning more about?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>I am interested in pursuing a minor in health and wellness since I have the space to take those classes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Connecting to Campus<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Name one problem or challenge you have encountered this semester, and which resource(s) at ODU you have\/can utilize to assist with this situation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>A challenge that I encountered this semester was when I had a hard time grasping a chemistry topic. The resource at ODU that I utilized for this situation was the chemistry success center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Is there a friend, roommate, professor, advisor, or group in the ODU community who has helped you so far this semester? If so, how did they help you?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>I have made a few friends in my classes this semester, and they have been helpful because they have helped me when I don&#8217;t understand something in class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Have you attended an interest meeting for a club? Why did you decide to get involved or not get involved?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>I have attended an interest meeting for the Student Art League and Japanese American Student Association.
