My name is MacKenzie Desotelle. I am currently working towards an Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice here at Old Dominion University . Once I’ve earned that, I plan to seek out local Law Schools in hopes of becoming an attorney here in Virginia. I am a more non-traditional student as I am completely online and actually full time active duty with the Department of the Navy. Life kind of found ways to get in the way of me completing school but I finally got into it and here we are, slowly but surly I have won this race and my mantra has become the Confucius quote “It does not matter how slow you go as long as you do not stop.”
Since joining the Navy I have been all over the country. I never really stayed on land long enough to really decide what I wanted to do for the rest of my life until very recently. About two years ago I decided that would finish out this last enlistment and search from something bigger and more challenging. That lead me to real estate and just recently I received my license to sell real estate. I realized that my true calling was helping people and I love helping my clients realize their goals whether they be homeownership or investment related. I work hard to undo some of the negative perceptions the public has with my new profession, but I find that part rather easy because I truly love helping people.
Over the years, and many nights out to sea I have collected quite a few hobbies. They range from reading and sewing to gardening and fishing. I joke that my hobby is collecting hobbies as I always have to have something to do…lots of irons in the fire so to speak. Aside from all of that, I am also a wife and the mother to two (2 Years and 1 Year). They keep me grounded and focused and make me strive to be a better human being.
