I feel that Emotional Intelligence and Self-Regulation are very closely tied together. Self-regulation, in my opinion, is when someone practices the ability to control their emotions and understand them. I feel that practicing Self-Regulation is a way of boosting your Emotional Intelligence. To me, Emotional Intelligence is the knowledge that a person has over emotions. To be more specific on this, I would say that this is not limited to the person’s own emotions but also to other people’s emotions and how other people’s emotions influence theirs. An example of Emotional Intelligence would be when if someone was able to analyze what made them mad or angry in a given situation and was able to control that emotion after the analysis of it. I think that EQ can be improved in many ways. One way would be to practice Self-Regulation and analyzing their emotions and what causes these emotions. Another way would be to practice a form of meditation, this could help in most situations because meditation allows you to calm down and focus deeply in most tasks.

I feel that all of the course objectives that are in the syllabus are going to be useful for me in the future and even now. Being able to understand how my mind works when in social situations can help me be a better person. learning about the processes that people use to perceive and attempt to understand other people will help me understand why people think a certain way about me and vice versa. One of the most interesting objectives outlined is “how attitudes are formed and changed, and how they are related to behavior.” This is something that could help me, and anyone that learns about this, to better understand why we feel the way that we do about situations in our lives.

I went into this class not really knowing what the class was going to be about, that being said I do not have any expectations from this course. Now knowing what this course entails, I hope to learn more why people, including myself, act certain ways in public and why people have and hang out with certain groups. Personally, I struggle with procrastination. So the biggest strategy that I have already implemented is keeping track of due dates with my phone and have multiple reminders set well before the due dates of assignments so that I can get them finished in a timely manner.

I choose this picture because this is the first time I have had a class that had me make a portfolio like this. I think that this is an awesome way to turn in or do assignments and I really like this. This picture is a screenshot of the page editor section of the dashboard for this site. This particular page is where I will be spending time almost weekly this semester and I am really looking forward to it. It is a really cool way to learn and the best part is I will be able to come back to this site even after this class is over.
