Essential Work Habits
During my time at Old Dominion University and my internship at Brooks Crossing Innovation Lab, I built strong work habits. I worked carefully and paid close attention to detail when using equipment like 3D printers, laser cutters, and robotics kits. I was always willing to learn new tools and figure things out from different angles. I stayed flexible and adapted to whatever the day needed, whether it was helping with a field trip, cleaning equipment, or setting up events. I also learned to stay updated on new technology and cybersecurity threats through my coursework at ODU.
Soft Skills
At Brooks Crossing, I taught kids how to use technology in a way that was fun and easy to understand. This helped me get better at explaining things clearly and being patient. Through my classes at ODU, I also learned how to break down complex ideas and communicate them better in writing and presentations.
Solid Technical Foundation
At ODU, I learned the basics of how operating systems, networks, and cybersecurity tools work. I practiced scripting and worked with systems like Linux and Windows through different assignments. My internship gave me hands-on experience working with technology, running machines, and helping with programs, which helped me build real-world tech skills.
Detailed Knowledge of Key Technologies
In my cybersecurity classes, I worked with Linux systems and learned about open-source tools. At Brooks Crossing, I used different types of technology and equipment to support events and teach programs. My classes also taught me about network security and how to spot different kinds of cyber threats. I also learned about social engineering and physical security through my criminal justice minor.
