Assignment Takeaway #2

After looking at the photos of myself, I thought about how each of the pictures represented who I am as a person, and I tried to look at six photos that showed a different side of me. The first photo I looked at was a picture of my sister and I, and it made me think about how I’ve always tried to be a good big brother so that she has an easier path in life, and hopefully ends up successful. The second photo I chose was a picture of my grandfather, father and me from Easter a few years ago. This picture made me think about how I’ve always tried to be a good son/ grandson to make them both proud. The third picture I chose was a picture of my friends Mason, Drew and Amir and me, from freshman year of high school. This picture, to me, represents how I’ve always tried to be a good friend throughout my life. Honestly, being a good friend is one of, if not the most important things to me, because if I just feel that friendships are the most valuable relationships people can make. Next, I picked a picture of me and my dog, Loki. I chose this one because I’ve always tried to be a good pet owner. I feel like being a pet owner is a big responsibility, and it’s important to always make sure that you take care of a pet because they solely rely on the owner. Another picture I chose was a picture of myself and two twins I used to babysit. This represents how I’m a good caretaker, and how I aspire to be a good dad one day, and I feel that since I was good at babysitting, hopefully I have a good relationship with my kids in the future. Lastly, I chose a photo that I took with my friend when I moved in to ODU, which represents me as a student. I feel like I’ve always performed well in school, despite having some difficulty with college. However, now that I’ve moved in semester I hope to turn things around.

I found this assignment to be pretty difficult for me, as I don’t usually take many photos of myself or anything else. I just never really think to take pictures because I’m usually caught up in what I’m doing in the moment and instead I usually just rely on my memory to recall moments in my life. This ended up making me look through both my entire camera roll and snapchat memories, which was an interesting trip down memory lane. However, looking at these pictures made me look at all of the different people that have shaped me to be the way that I am today, and so it was nice looking at all of the people and events that shaped me throughout my life so far.

Assignment Takeaway #4

This past couple weeks I helped out 3 random people and 2 of my friends. For the random people, I donated 10 dollars to a homeless man on the side of the road while I was driving, I helped an old lady load her car at Home Depot, I also paid for someone’s meter that had run out at Panera. I also paid for my friend Mason’s movie because he’s impoverished. I also paid for my friend DJ’s food when we went to Panera.

Doing these random acts of kindness made me feel pretty good, as it always does. I usually try to do random acts of kindness for people because I like to make other people happy. Being generous makes me happy so it’s something I do pretty often. I always like to think that I’d be really happy if someone did something nice for me randomly so I try to give that experience to other people. If I tried to practice this everyday I feel like it’d be pretty difficult but it would bring me a lot of happiness and friends.
