In assignment #4, and I think this ended up being one the funniest in my opinion… we had to find an advertisement that showed how advertisement portrayed women and as well as men in the United States and in other countries as well… the influence advertisements have on our women, and our youth other cultures are remarkable… the need of sexism exists at levels that un-deniable in our culture… society has gotten to the point of a simple chewing gum advertisement must be in a form sexism… when I started the research on this assignment I found myself lost on how many different directions your search can literally take you… especially in comparison to overseas in different countries… it is fascinating how much we differ in gender roles and different opinions on how we truly see things as a society… Japan has the culture of joint family as similar to what India has… the also have the same attitude towards their advertising… one of the better research projects so far … really enjoyed this !!!!

Ok, let me be very honest …I truly did not want to write this paper assignment #3 …until I actually started to read some of the blogs associated with this assignment …. This assignment asks us to “analyze several entries from a study abroad student’s blog post” … so I decided to choose something would help me towards my educational goals… reading about Italy’s educational system was very interesting to me … In Italy it only takes 3 years to earn a degree, books are free… tuition Fees in Italy are generally lower than in other countries in Europe… colleges in Italy establish their own tuition fees, but in the case of university education, there is a legal minimum cost for enrollment and a maximum cost for student contributions, which cannot exceed 20% of state funding…social media now dominates the higher education system now in America also, with the dominance of campus living … whereas I Italy most students travel back and forth from their institutes of higher learning… students in Italy are entitled to more discounts than you may be used to in America…very eye-opening … !!! however, I would miss the lifestyle of America and my family … so this would not be for me !!!

this assignment really caught my attention … in assignment #2 we are supposed to talk about how changes affects us  … I elaborated on change is seen as an indisputable good condition … I am changing each day being around these young people … the expectation I see in their souls … although this is not fun … the sacrifice for a better life for myself at the age of 48 is hard … but this is a welcomed change … what can I say I enjoyed the readings and the new perspective I have acquired … we all need to continue to grow and change …good assignment !!

I am really frustrated with this posting and maybe one day someone will inform me on the positive about posting … however, I do like the type of assignments we are given, it truly makes me think not only about the need of knowing it for an exam but in my personal life and family life … reading the development model of intercultural sensitivity … I wish I could have spent more time with this subject … I felt I did not give it enough time trying to figure out this social media … as you can see.. lol ..I do not care for posting things that mean absolutely nothing to the next person … however, the discussion boards are more factual and has some “meat” to the statements .. something I can truly think about in my quiet moments of the day …. this is what this model does for me … the definition of this model made me think:   People with this predominant experience are “in denial” about cultural difference  they are unable to experience differences in other than extremely simple ways.. this affects me every day in dealing with the social issues in my community as well as the worry I have for my children …especially my son !!!
