For our first assisgment we simply had to explain how social heuristics help us decide during moments of socialization. We had to provide examples of each huerisitcs and it helped me understand more about the topic because they were real life scenarios. These methods also helped me gain an understanding of how it can be effective when in a position of having a little bit of time to think. The four different heuristics i’ve learned were representativeness, availability, adjust and anchor, and status quo. They are used in different ways during certain situations.
This week, I found myself teaching a friend about status quo because of a situation we witnessed. The assignment to me was applicable to me as a student and as a front desk worker. My intellection is always processing whatever I’m seeing or hearing so I’ve encountered probably three heuristics. I’ve noticed that some heuristics are stereoptypical which can lead to incorrect judgment.
I chose the image above because it illustrates how there are different instructions of ways to think and how to solve them the way you interpret it.

The assignment taught me that pictures represent who I am. Pictures are for memorable purposes and can have meaning from different people’s points of view. I learned that you can look at a person’s collages of photos and see what their hobbies and interests are. People can also show their interest by putting their aesthetically pleasing layout. There was an essay I did for English and I had to choose a photo and write everything I can say about the picture.
Assignment two was interesting to me because I enjoy taking photos. It was relevant because I take pictures for them to have meaning. I always take photos when it’s a memorable moment especially when I’m with the people I love. It’s a moment I can always remember and memories that I hold forever.

For assignment 3, I was instructed to decide whether or not Michael Richard’s actions were racist or just out of anger. I believe that his actions were out of anger but I do think this was his true colors.
What I learned from assignment three is that no matter what context you use racial slurs you are still a racist. Michael Richard’s actions came with consequences. I am a person that stands by treating people with respect no matter what race, gender, sexuality, values, and beliefs. In no way shape or form is it ever okay for a person to judge another person solely based on who they are. He is a pure example of a person letting their anger get the best of him. He lost his temper and he couldn’t take back what he said. No one is perfect, everyone makes mistakes but it is NEVER right to yell disrespectful and racial slurs out of rage. Since Richard was so angry he knew exactly what to say to make the other person react the way he did and that is so disgusting.

For assignment 4, I learned a lot about how I am as a significant other. This assignment was relevant to me because I am in my healing stage from a past relationship. In a way, this was an evaluation for me on how I am as a person that falls in love. I discovered that in some ways I can be manipulative without knowing. I also realized that I am a giving and intense lover.
I can apply this to both romantic relationships and platonic relationships. This helps me do better if there’s a next time that I experience a new relationship or have a new friend. With this, I can approach these things differently, and hopefully, this will lead to healthy relationships for me.
