The topic I liked most was Dealing with Adversity and Achieving a Happy Life. Everyone goes through adversities in their life, which can bring stress and negative emotions. Something so simple as being rejected can generate a fear of future rejections taking away our willingness to keep trying new things for fear of being rejected again. I feel that people usually do not pay attention to how much damage stress can do to our bodies because it weakens the immune system. In today’s world, being a victim of society’s standards about your weight and having “the perfect body” is something people have to deal with constantly. In this scenario, using social groups while exercising is an excellent option to fight against this adversity since it will give you more confidence in yourself. That is one of the things I have been doing with my friends. Also, when I go to training with my friends, they push me to go further and give everything to me. At the end of the session, I felt a lot more relaxed. If we are mentally in a bad spot, it will reflex on our body, which can bring bad consequences like not feeling comfortable with ourselves.

The topic I liked the most was “The Nature and Origins of Stereotyping” because it helped me understand more about the history of an issue that is still one of the biggest problems in our society. I am saying this from my own experience. I am Peruvian, and I moved four years ago to Virginia from Lima. Since that day, I have felt a different type of treatment from some people only because of my skin color. Sometimes people try to only talk to me in Spanish because they assume I do not know how to speak English. Unfortunately, other people from other races have even worst luck.
Also, stereotypes occur in the tv shows or movies where they try to show “perfect” people assuming that if you are not skinny, have clear skin, and have clear eyes; you cannot be like the one in the movies. This has caused many problems in society, making people suffer bulimia for trying to be more skinny like their favorite actors.
This image for example assumes that in school every student must have new clothes.
