Assignment Takeaway 2:

I learned an abundant amount from this assignment, especially the values America has as a whole. The only ones I could completely agree with, which are the ones I chose to write about, were directness, openness, and honesty. Some of the other values that Americans hold high do not fit into my values, I personally do not see how we hold some of them so highly. This assignment also opened my eyes to how our values are not only similar, but also different from other cultures. Putting myself in the mindset on how others might view our values allowed me to look at how bad some of them are. We put work over others and  that’s something I truly could never do. This assignment connects with when I took America history and when we learned about values from then. Back then our values were focused on the American dream. We focused on families, our houses, work (not as much as we do today), etc. Back then they worked to provide for their families, but now we work all hours of the day just to advance for ourselves. This assignment was personally relevant to me because it allowed me to look from all perspectives, for example past vs present, and learn more about Americans values.
