Cybersecurity, Technology, and Society
Cybersecurity is the core interseciton between the interactions between the concepts of technology and society itself. I took this course in order to get a more firm understanding of that throughout the semester. I believe that to be a core principle to cybersecurity which made this class all the more preferrable to take as my entry into Cybersecurity after my major’s prerequisites had been satisfied.
After having taken this class I feel I have a much more firm comprehensive hold over the core concepts to Cybersecurity’s relation to how technology and society interacts. As well as the career field itself. One concept which did stick with me was certainly the CIA triad. That being the core concepts of cybersecurity as Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability.
This class also helped in my understanding how technologies evolve in accessibility just for criminals to exploit the opportunities opened up by the advancement. Whether it be intentional or not, the ease of access to committing white-collar crime has exponentially risen with the new technologies and increased the rates of said white-collar crime.
