Article Review 1: Digital Human Rights in Jordanian Legislation and International
Agreement
Introduction
With the expansion of technology, it now has become a part of everyday life and society. Digital technology has significantly enhanced global human awareness by providing unprecedented access to knowledge and fostering scientific and cognitive advancements (Yousef Al-Kasassbeh et al., 2024). Access to the internet has now become a basic human right. There now must be measures in place to protect the rights of the users of the internet as well.
Analysis
The question addressed in this article is What are the forms of digital rights individuals seek to obtain and their legal foundations? (Yousef Al-Kasassbeh et al., 2024). This question is asking what the basic human rights people are looking to have on the internet and digital platforms. For example, these could include freedom of speech and religion. The researchers are looking at the international laws and what the rights are in the country of Jordan. The research methods used in this study were interpretations on the laws internationally and in Jordan. They also gathered information from a plethora of legal databases that could be found online. While part of their research was objective and analytical, there was also the adoption of interpretive philosophy used by the group of researchers. From what they gathered most of the digital human rights that are in use internationally and in Jordan are like many of the international human rights. The only difference is that they have just been adjusted to cover the new emergence of digital culture. They also included digital laws from Africa, the UN, and universal.
Once again, with the world evolving as it currently is there are new forms of technology being introduced every day. With this there are rights and laws, that then must be created to protect the rights of those who are involved with innovative technologies. In addition, there are also those who are just now being introduced to the internet and being brought into the digital age, these people are also in need of digital human rights, due to the fact that they are behind, and there are those who would be able to take advantage of them as long as they remain unprotected. However, there are also those being heavily limited to what media and area of the internet they can access. The countries most known for this are China, Russia, and Saudi Arabia, who are censoring the information and access their citizens have access to.
Conclusion
In Conclusion, this study was helpful in providing information overall as the Jordain people are developing their version on digital human rights. It was also helpful in explaining current digital human rights all over the world, as well as concluding with recommendations of how laws and ruling should proceed as the world continues to grow and develop through the internet.
