Social media activity can tell you a lot about a person especially when it comes to sports. There is a variety of content that people can talk or post about on social media. For me, my usage does not really involve me posting a lot, but you can still be able to tell what sports or athletes I like by what I repost as stories on my Instagram page. For the most part, I would say that my persona online can be tied to basketball and women’s sports/female athletes. But I am a lover of all sports and like many different athletes so do not be surprised to see my content pulling from all avenues of sports. One day I might have a dozen of post related to LSU Tigers football and the next day I am posting about my love for “Triple Espresso” not the drink but the three fabulous forwards (Sophia Smith, Mallory Swanson and Trinity Rodman) for the United States women’s national soccer team (USWNT).
One of the main things you will see me post is if my team gets a win! I stand ten toes down behind the South Carolina Gamecocks WBB, Duke Blue Devils MBB and LSU Tigers Football.
A bad habit I have is that I will repost multiple pieces of content that all relate to the same thing but posted by different Instagram accounts. I have no shame in doing that because it just shows how hyped I am about something. The way I reposted so much USWNT content from the 2024 Olympics last year was crazy to the point where someone might think soccer was my favorite sport. Nope! I just love how hard they play and if you ask me, they are much better than the men’s team (just saying).
Being that I have no allegiance to a particular NBA team, I repost highlights and stats of some of my favorite players. You will always see me show love to former Blue Devils such as Jayson Tatum, Kyrie Irving, and Paolo Banchero. Also, I love rooting for underdogs such as Trae Young, who in my opinion is one of the most disrespected players in the league. Seriously, dude should have made the All-Star team outright this year, and not just as an injury replacement. Stats don’t lie!
Last week, Nike introduced their new signature shoe for A’ja Wilson. She not only played for the South Carolina Gamecocks but has been lighting up the WNBA since 2018. A signature shoe has been long overdue for her. And it’s PINK! You know I had to repost based on the color alone.
Lastly, Instagram stories are for videos as well. I recently reposted a post by Nike featuring their endorsed women athletes. The campaign is called “So Win” and talks about all the limitations that are placed on women athletes such as how they act and how they look. The video ends with the athletes overcoming the double standards and being victorious. I like the message that it sends to not only young girls but to men as well. Women will not be placed in a box or do things to appease the opposite gender. I could not add the video from Instagram but I have included the same video below from Nike’s YouTube page in case you wanted to watch it.
I hope you enjoyed learning about my social media persona!
