I first met C.J. many years ago when we attended the same church, Victory Christian Center (VCC). What really impressed me about him was that he was a man that took his faith very seriously. Most NFL players would enjoy their off-season by traveling to cities like Miami or Los Angeles to train. C.J. would spend a lot of his off-season in his hometown of Lake Butler, FL, attending church. His Instagram, @cjspiller28, is filled with many pictures of quotes from the Bible App.

He said many years ago while attending Clemson University that “Anytime I can go somewhere and speak to young kids or any audience about the Lord, that’s my main focus. Hopefully my little bit of words touched on one heart. If you’re able to go out and speak and change people’s lives, I encourage anyone to do that.”

His sentiment remains the same today, so I thought proposing an event titled “Football & Fellowship” would be a great way for him to show his love for God and football. It gives him the chance to coach football players and run them through intensive drills like he does for Clemson. It will also give him a chance to adequately communicate his path to Clemson, the NFL, and Clemson again while walking in his faith every step of the way.

Here are two flyers highlighting the event:

The event would be hosted at Memorial Stadium, better known as “Death Valley” by those who bleed orange and purple. It will be hosted from June 23-26 from 11 am to 2 pm. This event will give C.J. the chance to mentor young football players by teaching them gridiron skills while also helping them grow in their faith.

This plan will be promoted on social media platforms such as Instagram and X (formerly known as Twitter). Clemson football and C.J. himself will both promote the event. Here are examples of posts on how they would promote it:

Applicants can sign up on the Clemson Tigers football official website, https://clemsontigers.com/sports/football/. Publicity could also be raised through the local news affiliates in Clemson, SC, since I know not everyone is on social media.

If this event goes well, it could become an annual event for C.J. and young football players.
