I found a credible source in Picture A due to its precise fact and the source from which it came. The organization that produced the ad is an organization that was created to help veterans. Their main focus is to help veterans with their day-to-day lives whether that be transitioning them from out of the military finding jobs and or getting them assistance. They do help veterans with issues such as PTSD and others related to their service. They have been a big advocate in suicide prevention for veterans and are trying to do their best to prevent unnecessary deaths. Many don’t know or see the severity of veteran suicides and how much the transition from the military to civilian life is. Not everyone has someone in the military that they know so they are not exposed to how people are affected sometimes by serving in it.
I found the non credible source more effective because it was definitely more appealing when it comes to visual representations and was more interesting to read. Due to the simplicity of how the information was presented. When we process this information majority of the time heuristic processing or the peripheral route to persuasion. With both of these we tend to engage more with certain cues that the message gives off. In this case the ad represented in picture B is a Chick-fil-a. Everyone knows that the mascot is a cow and the cow is always trying to influence you to eat more chicken so that he can remain alive. The ad spoke to me a lot because I was hungry but also because the ad was visually appealing. As soon as I saw the ad I was able to easily identify the overall message and absorb what it was saying. The overall stake that the Chick-fil-a ad has is for you to eat more chicken and less beef. They are trying to persuade us that beef is bad, which is why we should go to the restaurant and grab some chicken. The more of their product that we buy the more capital they are able to gain.
I found the attractive source effective due to its overall look. When examining the ad in Picture C we notice a beautiful woman on one side of the picture. She looks completely flawless and attractive to the eye. When looking at the other half we see her beauty diminishing due to her smoking habit. When looking at the two sides together the message tends to scare you. You can see how cigarettes affect how you might look. Another key is the message which reads “Your beauty up in smoke” the quote further pushed the idea of beauty.
