A Lot of the activities we have completed throughout the semester have helped us further develop our knowledge in Spanish. We have done things such as bookwork, talk abroad, exams, discussion boards and assignments that have allowed us to better understand the language. The learning process involves more than just learning while in the classroom but also learning outside the classroom. At my job we have a diverse customer base. In addition, we also have diversity within our team members in the restaurant. Some of the workers who only speak Spanish have trouble when trying to communicate with others. I used to believe this barrier was challenging but it allowed me to develop my knowledge. One individual at my job is named Lady and I make it a point to try and speak to her about something each day. It has allowed me the practice each unit we have worked on and build a relationship with her. It also allowed me to see different things needed to improve on. For example, my pronunciations at times were incorrect and it made it difficult for her to understand me. It something I had to really focus to work on. Furthermore, it has offered so much difficulty, but it has also helped award me with a friendship with someone I would have never anticipated to be able to befriend.
