Four ethical issues that arise from storing information of individuals on electronic devices:
Security
One ethical issue is security once that information is given. Alot of apps now require or ask people to let them store certain things like keystrokes and more. If that information gets leaked and it has been leaked in the past then you receive problems like identity theft and fraud which is a big invasion of security.
Privacy
In the same token privacy can be taken as well from information being so easily stored if it gets in the wrong hands then private and sensitive information can be exposed. Or certain companies use more than they necessary when taking in your data which they end up invading your privacy.
Consent
I think that the way that companies ask for these permissions to use your data is very cryptic and they throw loads of words in it so that the average person does not know what it means. This allows them to use more than needed and they might get consent legally but it’s usually unclear within the terms and conditions.
Possibility of discrimination
With data being shared all through the internet then it can cause some information to change people’s point of view due to their own biases. Ethically it is not right but is most likely happening all over the world not just in the United States.
Compare cybersecurity risks in the U.S. and another country.
With this topic I want to talk about a article that was about how the Europeans have more control of what they allow companies to use and not use within their data with a law called The GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) I think that this law should be implemented and suited for the united states so US citizens can be more informed on what there data is being used for and they take control over it.
