1. How can you tell if your computer is safe?
2. Describe three ways that computers have made the world safer and less safe.
Update your browser plugins, make sure your browser plug-ins are up to date and your browser is up to date. An outdated plug-in leaves your browser and your computer vulnerable. Test your fire wall, one of the most fundamental security setups is a firewall. A firewall keeps hackers from seeing your computer online when they’re searching for victims. Even if they know where your computer is, the firewall keeps them out. Keep all software up to date, use antivirus software and keep it current. Make sure your passwords are well-chosen and protected. Don’t open suspicious attachments or click unusual links in messages. They appear in email, tweets, posts, online ads, messages, or attachments, and sometimes disguise themselves as known and trusted sources. Browse the web safely, avoid visiting sites that offer potentially illicit content. Many of these sites install malware on the fly or offer download that contain malware and make sure you use a modern browser. Staying away from pirated material, avoid streaming or downloading movies, music, books, or applications that do not come from trusted sources. Not using USBs or other external devices unless you own them to avoid infection by malware and viruses, ensure that all external devices with belong to you or come from a reliable source. Permanently deleting sensitive files that you no longer need. Ways that computers have made the world safer are people being able to live longer with the help of computers in the hospitals. What is not capable of humans doing alone computers are able to do in an operating room. When it comes to procedures computers can have a steadier hand than a person which makes the procedure safer. Ways that computers have made the world less safe are the potential risk of being a victim of a cyber attack and personal information is taken. Too much time on the computer in front of a monitor may affect your eyesight. Also constantly being on the computer and not getting up and moving around or being active can cause weight gain and other health issues.
