Last year March 2020 a huge outbreak of a virus hit the US causing many lives to change. The coronavirus is a deadly disease that killed and affected many people around the world. When it came down to athletes and sports coronavirus became a huge crisis that many athletes and sports organizations had to deal with. Coronavirus is a virus that can affect your upper respiratory tract, or lower respiratory tract and spreads from person-to-person contract. Athletes and many others had to take specific precautions to still be able to continue to play their sport or to even work out. The NLF specifically had precautions to keep their athletes safe. The NFL developed a set of health and safety protocols to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 for everyone in a team environment. Players and personal wear mandatory proximity recording devices when at the club facility, during practice, and during team travel. The NFL also made sure to update fans on social media sites on the protocols and safety tips that their athletes were taking to make sure everyone was healthy and corona-free. During this crisis, I feel that the NFL did have an effective crisis response. The NFL took every precaution that needed to be taken for their athletes to stay safe. There were athletes that even did catch the coronavirus, but the NFL continued to make sure that all athletes were to stay safe. The virus came at a very unknown timing and I feel that the NFL did react quickly to make sure that every athlete stays safe. In order to even enter a facility, the NFL made sure that every athlete took a covid test even before entering a facility I feel that this was a great idea that other organizations did not do when it came down to protecting their athletes and keeping them safe.
