Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational Modes of Communication

For interpersonal communication we did a lot of that in our discussion boards. Most were in English but there were some we did in Spanish also. I replied to a student about their favorite person and replied to them in Spanish. This particular discussion was quite easy because of the familar words that I have been learning in LingroLearning. I think personality traits would be great for me to keep in mind in the future. Especially since I want to work with children. I may come across a child who only speaks Spanish and it would be a great encouragement to have a postive trait to give them if needed.

For interpretive communication I chose a reply video from flipgrid, I responded to a student who asked a question which was “What was my favorite color and if I like school” in Spanish of course and I replied correctly in Spanish. This video, the student ask a question about a color, which we haven’t really talked about colors in Spanish class so I did have to find out the color on my own. Which of course wasn’t hard. Colors are pretty simple to learn. But, overall these replies are a great learning experience.

For presentational communication we do a lot of these actually in Flipgrid- where we present ourselves with the answers provided by the professor. This one was a little more challenging just because their were a lot more words to be put into. I did struggle with some of the pronunciation, especially with the word “especialización”. I do think this flipgrid has helped improve on understanding, listening, and being able to communicate back appropriately.

I have completed many interpersonal videos with the instructor as well as other interpersonal discussion boards revolving around the subject we were currently learning of. There were also instances of myself and a friend of mine speaking to each other that helped to increase my learning outside of the classroom.

I have had a few spontaneous conversations outside of the classroom with a friend of mine regarding the class and he has been able to help me understand in s different way the workings of the language. Interpersonal activities within the classroom such as zooming with the professor and going through correct pronouns and usage of words has has helped me understand and use effectively the correct wording and verbiage throughout sentences in casual conversation.

One of the most difficult parts of the language for me was learning the correct forms of various verbs. There were multiple different forms for each word and it was, at the time, difficult to find and use the correct form according to just context clues. If I had to do the class over, what I would do differently is mostly the note taking and studying process. I found that wehre I thought I was prepared, I may not have been as well prepared as I thought. I believe that had I taken more time to study then I would have been able to understand my faults a little better and been able to improve upon them.
