Why are you interested in cybersecurity technology?

Cybersecurity is a big industry which involves concepts that are much more complex than your standard security. It is a necessary part of our lives these days. We have almost all our data online, including personal information. Our lives are on social media, anyone can look at what we are doing through social media and can also find our location through our pictures and posts. We are not safe online and cyber criminals’ prey on our vulnerabilities to gain unauthorized access to our personal data and accounts. As we all know people are a big part of Information Technology and similarly in cybersecurity people are the biggest threat. People are the weakest link and have access to valuable data for various reasons. Companies must give network and computer access to their employees so they can do their job and make revenue for the company. Cyber criminals therefore target people using different tactics like social engineering, phishing, scamming, and more. Often hackers and criminals keep trying until they are successful. If a victim has good security, they move onto the vulnerable ones. Two factor is more important than ever before, it is painful sometimes to have to verify yourself, but it protects you and your information. One of my biggest reasons to choose cybersecurity is I want to make a difference in people’s life and protect people’s information online. I feel bad hearing stories everyday of people getting hacked and scammed. Companies lose a lot of money when they get hack, companies nowadays have all your information online in their servers. Few years back, my password was compromised in a data theft for a gaming company. Later through dark web monitoring I found out that it was leaked online. I changed all my passwords and made sure they were strong. I also turned on two factor authentication where available and started using authenticator apps like Microsoft authenticator.
