Four majors that are closely related to cybersecurity are Computer Science, Cybercrime, Cyber Operations, and Information systems & Technology. All four of these majors have information technology (IT) involved. ODU has one of the best cyber and Information Technology majors and programs in the country. These four majors are closely related to cybersecurity and have interconnected concepts. The first major I would like to talk about is Computer science, it involves programming and software development. Computer science programming languages include, C, C++, Python, Java, and many more. Jobs in CS field include Information security analysis and Database and Network Administration. The second major I would like to talk about is Cybercrime. Cybercrime major includes studies about, cyber laws, digital forensics, cybercrime investigations, and computer networking. Cybercrime is closely related to cybersecurity since security involves protecting networks and data, while cybercrime majors help catch criminals and people that break cyber rules. Third major I would like to talk about is Cyber Operations, this major involves the entire scope of cyber space. Cyber operations work with cybersecurity in many ways, they both complement each other. Cyber operations include techniques applicable to all systems and operational levels. Last major I would like to talk about is Information Systems and Technology, this major is a combination of business and technical knowledge. In today’s age every business need Information technology. Most data these days are online databases and servers. Therefore, information technology and cybersecurity work together. Organizations need cybersecurity to protect their data and digital assets. There are lots of job opportunities in all these fields. There is a huge demand of cybersecurity and other cyber and information technology related majors due to the exponential growth of internet usage and technology dependence. All these four majors are connected to cybersecurity in their own says, there are same base knowledge and skills that are part of all these majors.
