How can you tell if your computer is safe?
I believe that being questionable about whether your computer is safe or not is a popular feeling in the world today. That’s because your computer can be attacked from so many different angles nowadays, it is almost like simply opening an email can turn your laptop from a glorious, modern machine into a virus-infested swamp of malware. You’ll be questioning yourself, is my computer safe? Did I just get hacked? Can they see my browser history? All rightly so. That’s because a compromised computer can indeed be a dangerous thing. Think about what information you stow on yours like banking information, medical records, etc. Guess what, it can all be wisped away in a blink of an eye, just because you went to some sketchy websites to watch a new Marvel movie while it was still in theaters.
Well, there are some ways to tell if your computer is safe. First off, simply having a security program installed on your computer will give you that peace of mind. Not only can you purchase the best programs available, but they’re not overly expensive too. These programs can prevent and protect some of the worst attacks out there. They can also notify you if you have been attacked so you’ll just know from the jump as well. If you don’t have some sort of program installed, there are different tests you can do on your computer to see if it’s safe. For instance, test your firewall. Your firewall is one of the most important elements for protecting your information, so if it’s still intact, you’re on your way towards knowing if your computer is safe. You can also just tell if your computer is safe or not by paying attention to what’s going on in front of you. For example, if your computer is showing more and more pop-ups on your screen, it’s running slower, or simply just won’t work, you most likely encountered some sort of malware or virus.
