Final Semester Reflection
The first semester of college is always a challenge for freshmen that are working towards managing their time, balancing school life and their own social life, and exploring the outlets of becoming a freshman in college. For me personally, my first semester of college has been a rollercoaster. Learning how to balance my time, my classes, studying, and my own social life has been a challenge. However, the task has not been taken for granted. I have been able to grow as a student and as a person during my first semester of college. My expectations going into my first semester of college would have been focused on managing my time well and making sure that all my assignments were completed on time. I believe that I was able to manage my time well and balance my personal life during my first semester. I wish I knew that the first 14 weeks of college would go by extremely quickly.
Studying was a big part of my semester and played a large role in how well I did in my classes. I believe that my studying schedule was never extremely consistent because of certain classes that would take priority over other classes. Chemistry and Sociology took the biggest priority with studying because they had the most material to review for the tests. My studying habits have not changed, but I think they did change and adapt to the classes that required the most amount of studying. A resource that I used to help me study throughout my semester would have to be quizlet for studying purposes. There are flashcards, quizzes, and games that allowed me to work on memorization for my classes. I think the biggest aid that allowed me to get the most studying and homework done would have to be the library. I will more than likely be using the library more often throughout my following semesters.
The courses this semester that involved the Health Professions LLC were mainly tied into the material and events that took place throughout the semester. For example, SOC 201S would include material that targeted the health and science field and there were events and field trips that were specifically for the Health Professions LLC. I think all the events where Health Professionals were able to offer their experience in their field and allowed us to hear more on their field was extremely beneficial for me. I was able to see a few new and different fields in the health science field that were future career options for me. I personally was fond of the presentation of Speech Pathology. The presenter and presentation were great, and I was extremely interested in having this become my parallel major plan.
