Hi! My name is Delaney. I am from the beautiful Shenandoah Valley! I grew up on a farm that maintained a small family business, which gave me the insight and desire to pursue my degree in the related field. I love to care for my animals and find new ways to prepare and preserve my garden’s produce. I find so much peace and fulfillment in the simplicities of my life. As much as I would love to be outside all day, I spend a considerable amount of time in my academics. Education has always been important to me, and it will be a priority until I have reached my goals.
As this is my final semester at Old Dominion University, I am excited to see the next chapter of my life! In these final weeks, I hope to grow through what I have left. I am so close to the finish line, and I cannot wait to see what the journey has brought me to. Following graduation, I plan to jump into the workforce. An entry-level position in human resources management is what my eyes are set on. I hope to quickly gain experience so that I can use my skills to the greatest degree.
Fun facts: I love to read biographies! I enjoy learning about people outside of their well-known status. Also, I love to listen to music! In fact, I average over 20,000 minutes of Spotify play a year! As funny as this sounds, I am learning to play the dobro! “What’s a dobro?” Yeah, that’s usually the response I get. A dobro is a lap steel guitar. You play it with finger picks and a steel slide. It is most commonly used in bluegrass, country music, and Hawaiian music. The noise might remind you of a crying sound. Lastly, and most importantly – my animals! I have one pup that does everything with me. I even have a backpack to carry him in! I also have a pig that greets me at the back door every morning, and a sheep that I have bottle-raised since she was born! These babies have taught me how quickly a little love can turn your day around.
I am so honored to be a part of the LeADERS program, and I am looking forward to sharing my gained knowledge and unique quirks with the world that desperately needs some joy!
