Significant Projects

CPD 400’s Application Paper

This was one of the most thought-out papers I have ever written. We were required to choose someone who has been a leader in our lives. We had to apply the concepts that we had covered in the class to that leader. This included their leadership theory, styles, and qualities. As I was writing the paper, it gave me the chance to truly appreciate what my chosen leader taught me. The second half of the paper required us to personally apply the skills our leader possesses to our own lives. We had to analyze if we shared the same skills, how we could develop those skills, and why we thought they were important for one to have – also, what skills of our own we found essential to being a strong leader. This project may not mean so much to others, but to me, it was an awaking moment in my leadership journey.

ENTR 301’s Group Business

The major project in this course was creating a business with a group. We began this project by individually giving “elevator pitches” to our class, which consisted of an idea that each individual thought would make a successful business. Following that, we were separated into groups where we had to select one pitch that came from any member on the team (Four members of a team meant there were four ideas to choose from) . This was a processes that included utilizing a feasibility analysis. Next, as a group, we developed our business plan – executive summary, description, market analysis, organizational structure, marketing strategy, financial project, etc.. We created a business model, PowerPoint, and pitch, then, as a team, presented our assignment to the rest of the class. This was a great exercise that put all of our learning to action and also allowed us to gain experience working with others.

MGMT 485W’s Strategic Report

The notable project in this class was the strategic report. This report was done in phases throughout the classes that included the company profile, external analysis, internal analysis, stakeholder analysis, business and corporate strategy, and the international strategy. In each phase, using resources like 10-K filings, IBISWorld reports, Morningstar reports, and financial reports, we explained our chosen company’s position. Some phases, like the external and internal analysis, were based on provided fact, while others, like the business and corporate strategy, required us to logically and strategically think through the company’s most efficient next steps. This project encouraged me to effectively use my resources and think to the benefit of the company based on past decisions and reports that were out of my control. It was a project that required much research and one that I devoted great time to. I believe that it is crucial to have a solid understanding of how to strategically plan, as that is the only way a company can move forward.
