They may feel more emboldened to engage in deviant behavior because they do not have to confront the potential consequences of their actions face-to-face. This can lead to an increase in workplace deviance, as individuals may feel more confident in their ability to engage in such behavior without being caught.

For example, an employee may use encrypted messaging apps or other methods to communicate with others in a way that is difficult for their employer to monitor.
