Week 1 – Journal Entry
As a cybersecurity major, I find myself most drawn to the Protection and Defense and Investigation areas of the NICE Cybersecurity Workforce Framework. These areas align closely with my passion for solving problems and working hands-on with technology. I’m especially interested in the challenge of identifying and stopping cyber threats to protect critical systems. The Investigation area is equally appealing to me because it involves analyzing cybercrimes and handling digital evidence, which seems both exciting and impactful.
On the other hand, I’m less interested in the Oversight and Governance area of the framework. While I understand the importance of leadership, policymaking, and compliance, I prefer to be on the front lines of cybersecurity. Working directly with security tools and real-world threats is much more engaging to me than managing policies and overseeing programs. I believe my strengths and interests are better suited to technical and investigative roles rather than administrative or leadership-focused positions.
