Activities

I try to speak Spanish whenever I can. My uncle is very good at Spanish so I like to practice with him as well. We also tend to go on vacation a lot to Spanish speaking countries, these vacations provide me with opportunities to further improve my Spanish. I also like watching Spanish TV series from time to time. Whenever I do this I turn on the English subtitles and try to figure out which words mean what. Furthermore I really enjoy Spanish music. I am a huge salsa fan and my father even played in a salsa band when I was younger. I always try to understand what the songs are about and like to sing along after I learned the lyrics.

In SPAN 101F I also completed a lot of activities. I made a total of two videos. In the first video I had a conversation with one of my classmates and in the second video I had to describe different parts of my university. I feel like both videos went very well and that I was able to clearly say what I wanted to say in these videos.

We also did some cultural research in class for each unit. Two examples of cultural research that we did that I found very interesting were about the “siesta” and how universities are organized in other Spanish speaking countries.

In class we also did some basic conversation which I enjoyed. I feel like I was able to learn a lot from these in class conversations because profesora Padilla was right there if I had any questions.
