Activity Summary 2

During the last 100 hours of my internship, I feel as though I have grown more professionally in comparison to when I first started scribing. I enjoy interacting with providers on a daily basis and fulfilling my duties as an intern. Now that I have more experience and the proper training from the preceptor, I feel more confident when doing my job. It is my responsibility to perform chart preparation per clinic protocol, proofread medical records for inaccuracies before I send the chart to the provider, and obtain the accurate patient medical history and physical exam findings. During my internship experience with MedStar Health Urgent Care, I was able to develop my active listening, speed typing, and analytical skills. Furthermore, this internship opportunity has allowed me to gain more knowledge of medical terminology, EHR systems, and helped me be able to adapt to a fast-paced clinical setting. I particularly found direct interactions between Doctors, Physician Assistant’s, and Nurse Practitioners to be useful in improving my communication skills and interprofessional collaboration skills. Although I found charting for different patients back-to-back with minimal breaks in between to be quite challenging, this experience was valuable in developing my ability to multitask as a Medical Scribe. While I had many useful experiences working with Scribe America, I feel that I still need to develop my social skills and interpersonal relations. In conclusion, my experience with this organization was crucial in my development as a Health Professional. I will take the lessons and skills I learned and apply them in my future career as a Health Service Administrator.
