Writing Reflection 2
Essay Four was all about how I as a writer developed my own writing process, and what it consists of. Throughout the semester in UNIV150 the students including myself have learned the ways through a writing process ,and what it may and may not consist of. It was addressed that not everyone will have the same process, and the process a writer identifies for themselves should be what works best for them. Through this writing I evaluated my own process and implemented It as I wrote essay four .My biggest challenge writing this essay would have to be being able to talk about myself. Having to describe what a writing process is is not hard, but when it comes to talking about my own process thats where it begins to be difficult. I had to figure out a way to put my process into words, and go into detail about what it is that I do. This was a bit of a challenge because its not an everyday thing that I talk about how I write. While writing, something that came easier to me that did not quite before, would have to be being able to identify independent and dependent clauses. During my revision process, I was able to identify the different sentences and what was needed to fix each one. In the beginning of the semester I was not able to do this. I did not understand what an independent clause was or what a dependent clause was. Now I can say it comes to me a little easier, I’m able to say “this sentence needs a comma” or “this sentence needs a period, this can be kept by it self, or this needs either a comma or semi colon to support it.” Another task that was evidently easier while writing this essay, would be having my essay support my thesis as a whole. I never quite understood how a thesis was formed or what it did to an essay. Now I understand where it goes when writing an essay an how your details should support it and also how your conclusion should relate back to your thesis. Through essay four I was able to identify my writing process and and see what skills I have learned that made my writing easier.
