1.) a. I am intending to pursue an environmental health major, since I have always been interested in both the environment and health professions, so this seemed to be a good marrying of my passions.
b. For this major, I not only possess a good knowledge of health sciences from courses in high school, but a great amount of casually aggregated knowledge about many different environments and concepts, like keystone species, and techniques for not only the preservation of endangered species, but the culling of invasive and potentially harmful ones.
c. I commonly did community service relating to the monitoring of water quality and trash cleanup around the Chesapeake watershed and the Potomac river at large, I have a good amount of knowledge on how to not only do my job, but do it with as little disturbance to the surrounding environment as possible.
d. I would ideally like to work in the field, collecting samples for other people to meticulously look over with a microscope in a cold, sterile room under the eerie hum of fluorescent light.
e. My goal within five years is to have A job, at least one that has good hours, because I can work with smaller pay as long as I can physically get enough rest to do my work. Within ten years, I would hope to either advance that to good pay and hours, start my own firm basically crunching quantitative data in this field, or work as some kind of contractor for the EPA or something.

2.) a. I believe the largest difference between college and high school is the environment, there’s a lot more independence and room to grow, however that trades off in there being less safety nets to rely on, but I’ll make sure to keep up on stuff. I’m just getting my feet in the sand when it comes to the early assignments this year.
b .I expect that my biggest challenge this semester will be my oft-debilitating procrastination, but in a sink or swim scenario, I can really pull things together, so I hope I can do that here. I’ll definitely try anyways.
c. I expect my biggest challenge with moving onto campus will be the distance from my family, but that’s what phone calls are for. d.N/Ae.I plan to get a job either on campus or slightly off. I don’t know what yet, and I don’t know for how many hours, but I have experience in basically being a janitor, so that’s a good way to get my foot in the door.
3.) a. “Homework” is busywork, meant to ingrain concepts in your head through mindless repetition, “Studying” is organically learning the concepts at your own pace.
b. I plan for studying for the appropriate amount of time each week. I won’t really know how much I’ll need to do it until I actually get my workload in front of my face, but I’m not going to actively avoid my work. I plan to spend the most time studying for precalculus, and the least amount of time with sociology.
c. I plan to study at my dorm room and at the library. of the two, my room is more distraction heavy, but I can avoid these distractions by studying while I’m the only one in the dorm.
d. I generally like to have an early dinner, and study after that. I feel that this makes me more attentive because I just ate, and I can always have some after dinner snacks.
e. when it comes to my asynchronous classes, I’ll be a lot more flexible. I have multiple time slots I can do my work for those classes in, so I’ll be able to move onto the next if I miss one.
f. I can balance things so long as I’m not obsessing over them. I’d like to think that there’s a time and place for everything, I just need to figure out the time.
4.) a .I like to think that independent ingraining of concepts works best for me. I’ll often not pick stuff up, or pick it up immediately, so it’s nice to have my own pace with it.
b. I often bounce between similar subjects, for example, I’ll often work on math and science in-tandem, and move between them as I get tired of one.
5a. Tutoring is a very powerful resource to up my GPA
b. one resource that I can use to boost my performance is simply the environment. people often take just walking around to clear your head for granted. I don’t.
c. I think I will use tutoring this semester. I may not strictly speaking need it, but I also won’t need a car next year, but having my mom’s old Toyota highlander’ll help more than hurt.
d. I would like to learn about student study groups, I work better alone, but people swear by them, so I figure I’ll give them a shot.
e. I didn’t really participate in any organizations long-term. I was pretty busy with schoolwork, with me taking multiple AP and honors courses.
f. I would like to join the horror club, because I like it as a medium, and I have a good amount of both recommendations and opinions about the medium of horror film.
