This page is a collection of all the work that I have done in my Cyber201S class and any future projects that I may have on my Cyber journey.

Journal Entry #1: Review the NICE Workforce Framework. Are there certain areas that you
would want to focus your career on? Explain which areas would appeal.
the most to you and which would appeal the least.

Some areas that I personally would want to focus on in my career, investigating, and protect and defend. Some areas that appeal to me the most are Cyber defense infrastructure support, vulnerability assessment and management, digital forensics, exploitation analysis, and targets. Those appeal to me because those are somewhat a combination of red and blue team which is what I would like to be on. Some that would appeal the least to me are system requirement planning, system administrator, and customer and technical support. These don’t appeal to me Moreso because I’m not the type of person who would want to be technical support helping people fixing computers or building things I would like to be finding and mitigating cyberattacks.

Journal entry #2: Explain how the principles of science relate to cybersecurity.

The principles of science relate to cybersecurity because it influences and changes the way we manage and operate in the Cybersecurity world. Take the Political system for example. The political system needs cybersecurity workers to help defend against cyber-attacks and keep documents confidential, because if not high-level intel needed could get into the wrong hands. If the political system didn’t have as much high security level intel, then we would have no need for cyber. Another example would be the Criminal Justice System. If the justice system had no laws about what goes on people’s technologies, there would be no need for cyber security seeing as anything would and could go and laws wouldn’t be in play.

Journal Entry # 4 Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and how each relates to my experience with technology.

Self-Actualization- When working with technology I had to truly be able to separate the online persona or the way I was portraying myself online versus the way I acted in real life and they were two completely different because I became consumed with the way others looked or acted on social media and it affected me in negative ways.

Esteem- When it comes to technology I personally have high self-esteem because when I used to post things or pictures of myself I was taking time and effort to put out the best pictures because it was one of my passions.

Love and Belonging- When it comes to love and belonging, I have had experiences with random people who are truly generous and very thoughtful and it is interesting because we have never met and they do not have to be this kind yet they are and it made me feel like I belong.

Safety Needs- Technolgy has been able to keep me very safe one way is the alarm system whether it be the smoke alarm or just the door alarm it alerts me when there is danger. Not only that, but technology has also helped keep my money and sensitive data safe with things like two-factor authentication and passwords.

Physiological Needs- Technology has made it ten times easier to be able to locate a home and compare the cheapest prices, technology has also made it easier to look at the nearest store where I can get things I need like food, water and things like that. In saying that it has made me somewhat lazy since everything is at the touch of my fingers I somedays would rather stay home and lie down as opposed to going outside and getting a bit of sunlight or a bit of fresh air.

Article #2 U.S. and Indonesia’s different approaches to Cybercrime

Introduction:

This paper focuses on the differences in cybercrime approaches between the U.S. and Indonesia. First and foremost, this paper will address how this article relates to the principles of social science. In the article, it mentions how the U.S. takes an approach to cyber-crime and has an advantage over Indonesia one of the reasons being their advantage and better development of technology. At first, this may like a basic problem almost any country competing against the U.S. will face, but if you correlate it to the principles of science this would be in the category of economics seeing as Indonesia is a third-world country it does and would not have the resources like the U.S. Another advantage discussed in the article is that the “U.S. police force perception of cybercrime being influenced by a comprehensive knowledge of cyberspace, effective advanced training programs, and collaborations with foreign law enforcement agencies and industry experts.” (Mohammad Fadil Imran 2023) This correlates to psychological and sociological principles seeing as we are social creatures it outlines how we as humans use the advantage of others’ knowledge to our advantage and psychologically by giving the law enforcement training so that they will be well versed to combat any attacks or threats.

The research method

The article goes into minute detail about how they got the information about both parties’ perspectives on cybercrime. The method they used was the normal qualitative method. This specific method used the principles of law, case laws, and how both responded to cybercrime. They also used other references like journal articles and reputable secondhand academic inquiries which provided multiple accounts of data to accurately compare the two based on a handful of factors.

How the article relates to PowerPoint

The article relates to the PowerPoint because it relates to human factors of cybercrime and psychology. In the article one of the main reasons for Indonesia’s fault and low efficiency compared to the U.S. is due to human error. Indonesia didn’t utilize any of the other resources like the U.S. did and also, they were falling behind as stated in the article due to “Sociocultural factors, along with public ignorance and low confidence in police services.” (Mohammad Fadil Imran 2023)

Challenges Concerns or marginalized groups/ overall contributions

One of the main challenges or concerns is with technology and its rapid advancement in correlation to Indonesia’s development.  Since technology has been advancing very quickly cybercrime will continue to skyrocket and if Indonesia doesn’t change its ways the country could suffer further effects to no avail. Although Indonesia has its issues when it comes to cybercrime their negligence has taught us how important it is to have and utilize knowledge and how the area you are influences how you perceive information and how you can solve problems relating to cybercrime.

Conclusion

In conclusion, cyber-related crimes are a detrimental issue in all countries not just the U.S. Some countries like Indonesia are less developed and utilize fewer resources. Although Indonesia has its issues, we can gain information and use it to potentially use it as a reminder and precedent going forward to further enhance and defend against cybercrime. Lastly, this article serves to show that cybercrime will continue to grow and develop and so will new methods of defending against it.
