Parallel Plan

My Parallel Major would be Nuclear Medical Technology because it still would be able to take me on the career option I want. In fact, it would be useful in my path to Medical School. An interesting fact about this major is that Physics is a requirement for the major. It’s interesting because in Medical Laboratory Science that deals with similar things, you don’t have to take Physics at all. Also, there are two options for Anatomy I can take.

A career I can have with this major is to become a radiologist. This is due to the tasks that Nuclear Medical Technology requires are tasks that Radiologists require. A radiologist is in charge of using radioactive materials and x-rays to provide treatment for patients. They are required to have many skills such as being able to be extremely accurate and have a lot of background knowledge of nuclear medicine. My main reason for choosing a radiologist rather than an actual technician is because a technician works under a radiologist. I like being the one that makes the decisions in a group rather than having others make the decision for me.

My plan for pursuing this major is to take Physics later in my Sophmore year and then take the second part of Physics over the summer at my community college. I can also find more about this major through my advisor since it is still under the College of Health Sciences. I also can find more about this major through Degreeworks to determine what classes I need to take.
