I am interested in cybersecurity technology because I am very technology savvy. I am very customed to using technology in my everyday life. I would like to learn more about the security side of what I use in my everyday life. One thing that comes to mind is that if I am good at using technology and figuring out technology-based problems, then maybe I will be good at solving technology-based security problems. Cybersecurity is a rising topic that comes to mind when I think of new advances in the world and I believe that there could be many opportunities to be made when it comes to this field. The world is becoming more technology dependent because everyone uses it and companies need security to prevent from hackers and other threats, if I can be one of the people stopping that from happening, I could be in a very good business spot. One major that comes to mind when thinking of cybersecurity is engineering, which is my current major. Engineering can relate to cybersecurity in many ways including computer engineering, civil engineering, nuclear engineering, etc. Engineering is very dependent on technology due to keeping records, plans and even calculating things. One thing that brings engineering businesses money is creating plans and if those plans somehow got hacked and taking from a business that would be tragic. Cybersecurity could help prevent breaches from engineering companies and even create extra security boundaries that would help against any following attacks. Another major that relates to cybersecurity is computer science. Computer science is similar to computer engineering and would be similar to cybersecurity in the ways of understanding computers and their capabilities. A third major that can relate to cybersecurity is accounting. Accounting contains a lot of important information that would require cybersecurity to keep confidential. Finally, a fourth major that relates to cybersecurity is finance. Finance is similar to accounting in the way that there would be spreadsheets with important business records and calculations that shouldn’t be leaked to the public and that cybersecurity could prevent.
