Karl Marx developed the initial principles of marxism which discuss the use of social and political power. This particular power focuses on the getting and keeping of economic power in order to fuel social and political activities such as education, religion, math, literature, etc. Thus, economics is the base on which the superstructure of social/political/ideologies realities is built. Additionally, 18th century modern philosopher, George Hegel helped build Marx initial concept that the process of emergence of new ideas through the confrontation of opposing ideas. He focused on the fact that the world is governed by thought and material existence which helped to form Marx’s idea of a social and political construct shaping the societal ideologies that we follow.
The theory of Marxism analyzes society in such as way that we finally become aware of the ways in which we are products of this world and the oppression within. The social ideologies that many people hold dear to them allow us to become blind to the truth regarding the ruling power system in which we are stuck in. This theory further analyzes human events and focuses on the relationship between the poor class all the way up into the aristocrats, better known as the bourgeoisie. The overall power structure is set up so people never move up or from their social class, thus the wealthy get wealthier and the poorer get poorer.Economics has become the base on which the superstructure of social/political/ideologies realities is built. Marxism itself can only be used to judge concrete ideologies that one sees through the everyday lives of individuals in our society. The social structure/system in which we live is based on made up ideologies that we as humans have made a reality for ourselves. Unfortunately, those who are in a position of power do whatever they can to keep themselves at the top (Rich white old men) regardless of their platform, leaving no regard for those beneath. Thus, the overall power structure is set up so those who fall within the poor-middle class never move beyond their social class, meaning the wealthy get wealthier and the poorer get poorer. This theory leads us to further question the system in which we live and the truth behind us as humans. Are we who we say we are or have we fell into the category that has been constructed for us and ran by those above? I believe the deconstructive theory as well as the psychoanalytic can be used to help find these particular answers.
