Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs is a motivation-based theory in psychology in which lower tier needs must be met before higher needs can be sought after. From the bottom up the tiers go physiological needs, safety needs, belongingness and love needs, esteem needs, and lastly is self-actualization. My experience within this type of hierarchy related to technology are as follows:

Physiological needs: I use online payment methods for water to my home, electricity to my home as well, and sometimes food to be delivered or picked up at the restaurant.

Safety needs: I never store my passwords on any of my devices. I also use secure means of communication, such as https, when I surf the web. Also always use 2 step authentications when it is available to preserve important accounts.

Belongingness and love needs: I will use social media apps or other IM based apps to connect with friends and schedule get togethers. I can also use it to stay in touch with friends from across the world. I also will share family photos with those I wish to feel in the family with from our phones.

Esteem needs: I will use various pages on social media to share training videos and workout videos with people to comment and follow. Also sharing family photos with friends and family brings a sense of accomplishment in raising our child. I will also play games on the computer to help de-stress.

Self-actualization: I have used the computer for various creative hobbies at times. I have written code for a text-based RPG. I have used CAD and Inkscape to design and either 3D print or laser cut/engrave various pieces.
