After answering the Social Media Disorder Scale I only rated a one which is classified as normative. I feel that the questions are very subjective, and the answers would be from the viewpoint and assumptions of the test taker. For example, what does regularly mean in this context? As it stands with the 9 questions, I do not feel it is a very strong scale. It might only be used for a general self-assessment but not reliable for a diagnostic test.

As far as why different patterns emerge from across the world, it is because of the different cultures and approaches towards technology and social media. Even in a specific region you will find different patterns due to differing situational circumstances. It is really a question of how small a scale you wish to zoom down too.
